What a nice money grab this will be. BUT. . . why is MLB and the players union forcing the Yankees to go along with this BS idea. It looks like Michael Kaye won't be able to say his famous "No Name of Course" for that stupid weekend.

I hate what MLB collectively is doing to the tradition of the game.
New Breed2017-06-10T15:13:59+00:00Walter/blog/author/walter/https://yankeescentral.com/blog/new-breed/
Sitting at the game Friday night and for some reason there was a convergence of annoying and irratating fans:

- Find and sit in you own fucking seat. When you are in the wrong seat you start a cascade of movement and people standing, blocking the view of fans in their right seat.

- Don't hold a meeting in the aisle, it you want to chit chat take it out of the fucking seating area....your chit chat is annoying (and so are you).

- If you have a mobile ticket open and look at your smart phone before you are in the aisle with the deer in the headlight look!

- I have said this before, real Yankee Fans do NOT, I repeat do NOT do the lame ass wave....take it to Shitty field. (Luckily it didn't take hold last night, died on the vine!!!).

- Take your selfies in the AISLE between innings not in the middle of the inning...you are not the only ones in the fucking stadium. I don't want my view of the game blocked by you and your dumbass freinds.

Boy, do I miss the old Stadium with loads of real fans not loads of ........(fill in your own terms of endearment here).

Gate & Seat Restrictions?2017-06-06T16:17:31+00:00Walter/blog/author/walter/https://yankeescentral.com/blog/gate-seat-restrictions/
The Yankee brass wonders why ticket sales are down again this year even after the team's nice start. Well for me the recent gate / seating area restrictions certainly do it for me.

For every Yankees home game, Gate 6 and Gate 8 will open two hours prior to the scheduled start time. Guests will have access to the newly-enhanced Outfield Experience - including the Masterpass Batter's Eye Deck, Frank's RedHot Terrace and the Toyota Terrace - as well as Monument Park and seating areas and concession stands in Sections 103-110 on the first-base side, the entirety of the Bleachers, and Sections 128-136 on the third-base side. Beginning 90 minutes prior to scheduled start times, all other remaining gates, seating locations and concessions will be open to all Stadium Guests.

When we went to see the Yankees play the White Sox a few years ago, this is the same type of "dumb" thing the White Sox do. Why would any team let you into their Stadium just to tell you you can't go to your seats. Of course you will notice that those with the most expensive seats aren't precluded from going to their seats. Must be another "class" distinction thought up by Lon Trost. Another money grab by the Yankees. They let you in and for 30 minutes you mostly have access to areas where there are concessions, which of course the brass hope will mean you spend more money.

This kind of fan "unfreindly" behaviour certainly makes it harder and harder to remain a season ticket holder!
Who's the rocket scientist2017-05-08T04:03:24+00:00Walter/blog/author/walter/https://yankeescentral.com/blog/whos-the-rocket-scientist/
As I sit here watching the game as it approaches midnight Sunday I have to wonder who was the rocket scientist in baseball's front office that ever thought that Sunday night games made any sense. Brutal on the fans who go to the game.

Which then leads me to the idea of who the hell in the Yankee front office thought that retiring DJ's # on a Sunday night which is also Mother's day was a good idea......couldn't be much more dreadfull!
Hell Freezing Over2016-11-03T13:14:03+00:00Walter/blog/author/walter/https://yankeescentral.com/blog/hell-freezing-over/
Well, thanks in part to our wonderful GM it looks like hell will now need to freeze over since the Cubs have won the W.S.
The worm is turning 2017 2016-10-25T13:49:21+00:00Walter/blog/author/walter/https://yankeescentral.com/blog/the-worm-is-turning-2017/
Mike says it all right here:

http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2016/10/24/listen-francesa-yankee-stadium-enhancements/

I can't believe that the Yankees actually think their real fans could possibly think they would want any of these changes!

What's worse is WTF is Yankee Managament thinking. First Chapman and now Miller. The Yankees brass clearly has lost their way. We had the 7th, 8th and 9th nailed, now we don't. How quickly they have forgotten what Theo did to us in 2004! George must be losing his mind in the big ballpark in the sky.

AND, I can't believe how many Yankee fans think this is good.

Oh, we got a great prospect at short - he is 19, in single A, years away and how often do prospects peter out before they ever even get to the show

Oh, we got Warren back - we dumped him for Castro, he's having a marginal season at best….and he ain't no Chapman

Epstein & the Cubs robbed Cashman and the Yanks. He will laugh at us forever as he becomes the GM who took the Red Sucks and Cubs to WS titles after decades / centuries.

The long wait is nearly over.....yea!
Sound off2015-12-10T15:00:50+00:00Walter/blog/author/walter/https://yankeescentral.com/blog/sound-off/
So I spent most of the 2015 season on our Twitter site. I've had nothing to say at all since the season ended on October 8th.

These 2 trades that Cashmen just made sure look like 2016 is gonna be a wash, just like every season since 2009.

How on earth does he trade away 2 arms that were solid in 2015 and not HURT. Every one of our starters, except for maybe Severino had health issues in 2015 and they will obviously be another year older in 2016.

Come on Hal, isn't it time for Cashman to be shown the door? Would George put up with this teams lackluster perfromance the last 6 years? No! No! No!

Pace of Game2015-04-05T14:42:53+00:00Walter/blog/author/walter/https://yankeescentral.com/blog/pace-of-game/
So, I have watched a bunch of spring training games and seen these stupid pace of game changes. I'd really like to know who the dopes are that think the games need to be sped up. When I go to a game (and I go to plenty each year) I don't go to get in and get out in a hurry. I go to spend 3 or so hours at each game. Sometimes a game goes faster sometimes longer but I don't watch the clock. Why don't the MLB powers focus on the games that start at 8PM Sunday night just so ESPN can broadcast the game. What is dummer than that? Do they think about the fans who have to get up and go to work Monday morning? No, of course not. Or how about the crazy playoff schedule, days and start times...what about that? I understand that the game is a business and that a business needs to make money but come on....give me a break.
Hitting Coach2015-03-25T01:32:52+00:00Walter/blog/author/walter/https://yankeescentral.com/blog/hitting-coach/
So Kevin Long goes over to the Mets and the Mets batters seem to be having quite a spring. Now I have always been the first to say that anything that happens during spring training means nothing so who cares how well the Mets are doing. BUT what if the hitting coach wasn't really a problem. Sometimes a team needs to make a change just to make a change and get a different perspective. Time will tell but there is less than two weeks left to spring training and as a famous American once said .... "it's getting late early". To quote another famous American "the Yanks need to put their hitting shoes on".
That time of year2015-03-20T17:29:58+00:00Walter/blog/author/walter/https://yankeescentral.com/blog/that-time-of-year/
Well, it is that time of year again. The spring training games are coming along and a few are televised which starts to get you in the mood for the real season to begin.

Then today I got my 2015 season tickets which gives me that special feeling that only the start of a brand new season can provide.

Opening day 4/6/2015...yea!

Let's go Yankees!
Yankees Hands on History2015-02-16T16:19:28+00:00Junior/blog/author/junior/https://yankeescentral.com/blog/yankees-hands-on-history/
The Yankees are starting a new program where fans can touch and hold Yankee artifacts.

We were able to get a preview, and it's pretty cool.

A-Dud2015-01-31T02:05:29+00:00Walter/blog/author/walter/https://yankeescentral.com/blog/a-dud/
So, if A-Rod makes it past spring training I will follow my rule of NOT rooting against any current Yankee....but.....don't be surprised if the Yankees designate A-Rod for assignment at the end of spring training. Look at the facts 1) A-Rod tires to meet with Yankee brass and they tell him to get lost until spring training 2) somehow it gets leaked that the Yankees are looking to void the bonuses for the next home run milestones 3) A-Rod looks like a shell of his former self...he will be lucky to have anything more than warning track power.

If the Yankees don't want to throw good money after bad...releasing him will cost them in the vicinty of 60MM. By releasing him they save the added bonus money if and when he hits those milestones. Best of all the Yankees stick it to A-Rod returning the favor that he gave them (and all the Yankee fans) by using PED's while he was a Yankee and lying about it. Taking this step will cost the Yankees big bucks but could be viewed as the Yankees way of saying that they had no idea that A-Rod was doing PED's.

We will see soon enough.
And?2014-12-19T20:30:19+00:00Walter/blog/author/walter/https://yankeescentral.com/blog/and/
So the Yanks sign Headley and we were led to beleive that we had a solid infield going into 2015, much better than how we started out for 2014......and now after this 5 player trade today with the Marlins we have no second baseman plus we give up a starter / reliever that was a known entity. On the surface it certianly looks like Yankee Management is trying to turn the Yanks into nothing more than a mediocre team.
Nowhere man Cashman2014-12-09T16:59:23+00:00Walter/blog/author/walter/https://yankeescentral.com/blog/nowhere-man-cashman/
Season after season I watch with amazement who Cashmen goes after and who he doesn't. Why would he sign Miller over Robertson? Don't get me wrong, Robertson can keep you on the edge of your seats with his deep counts and putting runners on base BUT we know what he can do. Miller on the other hand...who knows...as usual the big question will be how he can or can't handle N.Y. On the other hand one has to wonder what Robertson is thinking signing with the White Sox.....does he really think this is a good career move and path to the World Series? Ha!

Back to Cashman....does he recall that in the past 2 seasons, where we missed the playoffs...we had NO OFFENSE? Let's see, the Mariners added offense...Cruz man can welcome Robby to the world of "enhancements" so maybe his numbers can improve. The Red Sucks are going balls out to improve which will push us further down the ladder if we don't upgrade the bats in a big way. Ugh!
Pathetic2014-09-06T02:20:45+00:00Walter/blog/author/walter/https://yankeescentral.com/blog/pathetic/
Pineda gives up only 1 run and our offense can't do squat. I can't believe how bad this team is. It reminds me of the days of Jerry Kenny and Horace Clarke. Hard to understand how this team's run production can be so poor. Play-off possibilites are quickly slipping away. Such a crummy send off for DJ. Ugh!
Pitiful2014-08-14T01:46:56+00:00Walter/blog/author/walter/https://yankeescentral.com/blog/pitiful/
We look pitiful. Plain and simple, nothing much else to say. These last 54 games are gonna be painfull to watch. What a lousy send off for D.J.

When are the Yankees going wake up and find a different hitting coach. How many more years are they gonna stay with Kevin Long while they continue to mount an anemic offense?

It makes no sense to me at all.
Fuckin asshole2014-07-16T00:38:46+00:00Walter/blog/author/walter/https://yankeescentral.com/blog/fuckin-asshole/
Watching the All-Star game and as everyone in the crowd is chanting Derek Jeter, Derek Jeter, Dereck Jeter I hear some fucking asshole in the background yelling "over rated". The fans around that asshole should beat the crap out of him. As it turns out "Mr. Over rated" doubles and then scroes the first run of the game for the American League. Sooooo, GFY buddy.
